Mark has exhibited in London, New York and Tokyo, as well as throughout the US. He is well-represented in museum and private collections, including the Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian American Art Museum. He had two major exhibitions of his big pots at the Nasher Museum at Duke University in 2010 and at the Ogden Museum in New Orleans in 2011. His work has been featured in numerous publications including the Smithsonian magazine, the cover of American Craft magazine, and he has written extensively in the ceramic press. Mark and his work were featured in the PBS TV series Craft in America. Mark and Nancy Sweezy co-curated the highly-regarded exhibition, The Potter’s Eye: Art and Tradition in North Carolina Pottery at the North Carolina Museum of Art October 2005 – March 2006. UNC Press published a superbly illustrated catalogue/book for the show. In 2017 Mark curated a show entitled Great Pots from the Traditions of North and South at the North Carolina Pottery Center. Highlights amongst Mark’s numerous accolades include being named a United States Artists Fellow in 2015, one of the five finalists for the American Craft Council’s Balvenie Rare Craft Award in 2014 Bio: Mark Hewitt.
